Founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Obiyeomie, has sparked online discussions after laying down strict guidelines for behaviour during church services.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the cleric warned members against chewing gum, drinking water inside the auditorium, or using mobile phones during service. He stressed that worshippers should maintain discipline and show full respect in the house of God.
“Don’t chew gum when you’re in church, you’re not a goat. Don’t drink water in church. If you want to drink water, go outside. Don’t use phone at all in church. This is not a Pentecostal church, only Pentecostal churches allow water inside church,” he said.
According to him, the church is a sacred environment that should not be treated casually, adding that some behaviours commonly seen during worship services are disrespectful and unacceptable.
His remarks have since generated mixed reactions on social media. While some users supported his call for discipline and reverence in church, others felt the rules were too harsh.
One user commented, “He made his point, but the delivery wasn’t right,” while another wrote, “Some of these rules are too extreme for modern church settings.”
The debate continues online, with opinions divided over whether the guidelines promote order or go too far.
