ASAP Rocky has sparked controversy during his “Don’t Be Dumb” tour stop in Phoenix earlier this week after making comments that some fans have described as disrespectful toward women.
During his performance, the rapper who has been in a relationship with global superstar Rihanna since 2019 spoke to the crowd and said:
“Thank god y’all didn’t know me when I was single ‘cause I would have fcckk the shhtt out of you if you was pretty.”
The audience reacted with loud cheers, appearing to treat the remark as playful banter in the moment. However, once clips of the exchange circulated online, reactions became more divided, with many social media users and some Rihanna fans criticising the statement as inappropriate and disrespectful.
Rocky also appeared to reflect on his earlier lifestyle, suggesting he would have been more flirtatious with women in the crowd before settling into his current relationship.
ASAP Rocky and Rihanna have been together since 2019 and share three children sons RZA and Riot, and their daughter Rocki. The couple have often been seen publicly supporting each other at major events.
Earlier in the year, Rihanna attended the opening night of Rocky’s tour, though she was not present at the Phoenix show where the comments were made.
