Ghanaian actress and stylist Nana Akua Addo has responded to accusations levelled against her by Paris-based designer Almee over her outfit at the grand finale of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Almee had alleged that the actress copied and used her cathedral-inspired concept without proper credit, claiming that both Nana Akua Addo and her stylist should have acknowledged the original inspiration behind the design.
Reacting via her Instagram page, Nana Akua Addo shared screenshots of her conversations with the designer, explaining that she had initially reached out to Almee Couture with her design concept. According to her, the fashion house later decided to pull out of the project and refunded her payment.
She further disclosed that she had presented a mood board during the initial discussion, adding that the brand itself had developed a separate structure and concept based on her idea before opting out.
Dismissing the allegations, the actress described the claims as “audacious,” insisting that she did not steal any design or concept from the Paris-based fashion house.
