Nigerian music star Davido has drawn attention to the plight of abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oyo State after appearing on stage in a customised jacket bearing their names and the message, “Bring Them Home.”

The singer wore the black jacket ahead of his performance at the FIFA Club World Cup, with tags displaying the names of the affected children and teachers reportedly attached across the outfit.

The gesture was widely interpreted as a show of solidarity with the victims and their families amid growing concerns over their safety and the ongoing efforts to secure their release.

By displaying the message on an international stage, Davido used his global platform to amplify calls for the safe return of those still in captivity and to draw international attention to the kidnapping crisis affecting parts of Nigeria.

Photos and videos from the event quickly circulated online, with many Nigerians praising the singer for using a major global sporting event to spotlight the situation and advocate for the victims.

In other news… Edo State Governor,nMonday Okpebholo, has accused political opponents of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of fueling insecurity across the country in an attempt to undermine the administration ahead of the 2027 elections.

The governor made the remarks on Tuesday during the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign for the local government council elections in Edo South Senatorial District.

“There is no vacancy in Aso Rock. What is happening today is the handiwork of the opposition,” Okpebholo said.

He alleged that the recent rise in kidnappings and insecurity was politically motivated and designed to create fear among Nigerians in order to weaken support for the President.

“They have failed. Have they not failed? Is it by kidnapping children? Then who are you going to govern? There will be nobody for you to govern. So let them give us peace so that we can rule well,” he added.

In one of the most striking moments of the speech, the governor declared:

“They can even kidnap all of us, yes, there is no vacancy in Aso Rock.”

Okpebholo argued that violence and instability could not secure political power, insisting that Senate seats, House of Representatives positions, governorships, and the presidency should be won through democratic means rather than fear or chaos.

He also praised President Tinubu’s leadership, saying the administration had already delivered visible progress through infrastructure projects and reforms, including the controversial removal of fuel subsidy.
