- Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo has stated that President Bola Tinubu is willing to fix Nigeria but argued that the country’s deeper problem lies in broken institutions and governance systems.
- He maintained that sustainable progress requires systemic reforms rather than relying solely on leadership changes.

Senior pastor and televangelist, Matthew Ashimolowo, has expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ability to move Nigeria forward, stating that the country’s problems extend beyond any individual occupying the presidency.
Speaking in a video that has generated reactions online, the founder of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) said he believes President Tinubu is committed to addressing Nigeria’s challenges but stressed that meaningful progress will remain difficult unless the country’s institutions are reformed.
According to Ashimolowo, decades of institutional weaknesses have created deep-rooted problems that cannot be solved solely through leadership changes at the top.
“I believe we have a president who is ready to fix this nation. I believe he’s seen it all and I believe he is well-intentioned. The system is broken, so you can’t fix the presidency and leave the system untouched,” he said.
The cleric noted that Nigerians have traditionally placed significant emphasis on electing the right leaders while paying less attention to building strong institutions capable of sustaining development regardless of who is in power.
Ashimolowo argued that strengthening governance structures, public institutions, and systems of accountability is essential if the country hopes to achieve long-term stability and growth.
His remarks come at a time of intense national debate over economic reforms, insecurity, rising living costs, and the performance of the current administration.
