Former Senator Shehu Sani of Kaduna has suggested that President Bola Tinubu’s government concentrate on carefully handling economic concerns in order to avert possible demonstrations from irate Nigerians.

According to the former federal legislator, unlike the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, this type of protest does not come with a notice.

After the NLC and the federal government exchanged words after the former canceled its two-day warning protest, Sani offered this advise on Friday via his X account.

The federal government had declared that the protest was inappropriate and advised the representatives of the Labour Union to hold off on running for president until 2027.

The NLC responded by saying Tinubu had to deal with the issues of hunger, unemployment, and inflation that are causing the economy, adding that nobody was after his office.

In response to the development, Sani stated that the most abhorrent protests are not those organized by civil society organizations or organized labor, which give warning before going on the strike; rather, they are organized by the hungry, homeless, and jobless who have nothing to lose.

He wrote, “The most dreadful protests are not the controlled ones organised by the Labour Unions, the organised civil society or the opposition parties.

“The protests this country should work hard to avert are the organic ones led by the hungry, the homeless, the unemployed, the downtrodden, and the dregs of the streets; this kind of protest doesn’t come with notice of date of commencement or date of suspension, this protest is the kind led by people who have nothing to lose but their shackles; this is the kind of protest the Government and nation must avoid.”
