In Toro town, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi state, it has been claimed that suspected gunmen have abducted an assistant superintendent of police.

The gunmen allegedly stormed the town on Friday night and began shooting erratically right away, throwing everyone in the area into serious disarray as they fled for safety.

According to a town resident who asked to remain anonymous, the gunmen stormed the town at around 9:00 pm in large numbers and opened fire into the air, causing chaos among the residents.

He claims that the frequent kidnappings for ransom in Toro Local Government have had an impact on the region’s economic activities recently because people are reluctant to conduct business there for fear of being abducted.

Ismail Dabo, a member of the House of Representatives who represents the Toro Federal Constituency, reacted by denouncing the incident and urging restraint.

Given the state of the economy right now, Dabo called the incident unfortunate and regrettable.

He gave the populace reassurance that legislative efforts would continue to be made to address their security problems.

There was no response to the confirmation of the Bauchi State Police Command, despite all attempts to obtain it.

The command’s public relations officer, Ahmed Wakil, did not return a number of calls. A message sent to his phone also went unanswered by him.
