Nnamdi Kanu, a Nigerian Biafra political activist, and leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a group canvassing for the secession and sovereignty of Eastern Nigeria has alleged that former US President, Barack Obama “interfered” with the 2015 general elections in Nigeria to send former president, Goodluck Jonathan away from Aso Rock.

Kanu via his routine online broadcast, on Sunday, claimed that the ‘interference’ was in collaboration with Nasir El-Rufai, the Governor of Kaduna State.

3. How Nigerian Traders Evade Tax Payment, Sell Substandard Goods – Ghana Information Minister

The Ghanaian Minister of Information, Kojo Nkrumah, said that Ghana had taken commensurate actions, referencing the controversial $1m levy imposed on Nigerian traders in Ghana, stating that the Nigerian Government had also “taken a number of steps” that prioritised its “national interests”. He also stated that Nigerians in Ghana sold substandard goods, and violated a number of other laws while trading in the country.

This comes after Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, in a statement, claimed that Nigerians in Ghana were been mistreated by the Ghanaian Government, souring the relationship between sister nations.

4. Nigeria Star, Aruna Quadri’s Arrival Attracted Interest in Germany, Says Table Tennis Bundesliga

The organisers of the elite table tennis league in Germany, Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) have said that the arrival of Nigeria star, Aruna Quadri has increased interest in the league by Germans.

The African will be making his debut on Sunday September 6 for his club – TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell away to TSV Bad Königshofen and there have been excitement in Germany over Quadri’s arrival.

6. Police Recruitment: Over 3000 Applicants Screened In 7 Days In Kaduna

Over 3000 applicants have undergone physical screening for recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force as Constables in Kaduna State.

The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state, ASP Mohammed Jalige disclosed this to journalists on Monday saying a total of 17,000 applicants from the state are expected to undergo the physical screening exercise which ends on September 10.

7. Buhari Inaugurates Executive/Legislative Consultative Committee

President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated an Executive/Legislative/party consultative committee.

The inauguration which took place on Monday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja had in attendance, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, the Deputy Senate-President, Ovie Omo-Agege, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

8. IGP Sends Warning Message To Voters and Politicians Ahead Of Edo, Ondo Elections

Ahead of the already scheduled Edo and Ondo gubernatorial elections, Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A. Adamu, NPM, mni has warned politicians and their supporters to conduct themselves properly, play by the rules, and steer-clear of tendencies capable of undermining the electoral process in the two States.

The Edo and Ondo States gubernatorial elections are scheduled to hold on 19th September 2020 and 10th October 2020 respectively.

9. Supreme Court Affirms Election of Yahaya Bello as Kogi Governor

Justice Tanko Muhammad-led seven-man panel of the Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal challenging the victory of Governor Yahaya Bello at the governorship election held in Kogi state in 2019.

Dismissing the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, Justice Tanko in a unanimous judgment, affirmed Bello’s election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Read more here.

The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, asserts that the church premises at Ota, Ogun State, had never experienced a robbery despite high crime rates in the vicinity.

Oyedepo stated this while upbraiding the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020 introduced by the Federal Government, during the first service held at Canaanland, the church’s global headquarters on Sunday.
