“Don’t Politicise Insecurity”- Davido Replies Rarara After Public Call-Out

  • Davido responded to APC praise singer Dauda Kahutu Rarara’s comments about his World Cup concert appearance.
  • Rarara criticized Davido for wearing a jacket that honored abducted pupils and teachers from Oyo State.
  • Davido emphasized that addressing Nigeria’s security issues is a patriotic act, not a political stance.

Afrobeats star Davido has reacted to comments made by APC praise singer Dauda Kahutu Rarara, maintaining that speaking up about Nigeria’s security situation is an act of patriotism rather than political opposition.

The controversy began after Rarara criticised Davido’s appearance at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert in Los Angeles, where the singer wore a customised jacket displaying the names of abducted pupils and teachers from Oyo State, along with the message “Bring Them Home.”

Rarara argued that highlighting Nigeria’s insecurity on an international platform could harm the country’s global image.

Davido initially fired back with a brief social media post that appeared to mock the criticism, which triggered another response from Rarara and further intensified the exchange.

The situation escalated when the award-winning singer issued a more detailed defence of his action, stating that his gesture was driven by concern for victims of abduction.

He explained that drawing attention to kidnapped schoolchildren and teachers should not be politicised, adding that remaining silent in the face of insecurity would be irresponsible.

Davido emphasised that the safety and welfare of citizens should always come before political considerations or efforts to protect national image.

His words …

“Damn it, every Nigerian should not stay silent about the insecurity plaguing the nation, nor should they prevent others from voicing their concerns openly. Showing bias and prioritizing personal or political interests, and putting personal desires above the community’s goals, is nothing to be proud of. Be a patriot for your country, stop prioritizing politics over the truth, and fear God in everything you do @kahuturarara “
