
Armed individuals have assaulted the residence of the suspended senator for Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, located in Ihima, within the Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
This event took place on the night of Tuesday, June 17, 2025, just two months following a similar assault on the same property.
Reports indicate that the armed assailants vandalized windows before police officers, community vigilantes, and local youths successfully repelled the attack.
The spokesperson for the Kogi State Police Command, SP William Aya, confirmed the incident to Punch on Wednesday, June 18, stating that one suspect, identified as Jose Suberu, was arrested at the scene of the incident.
“Yes it’s true and one suspect, Joe Suberu was arrested at the scene. Efforts are on to arrest the fleeing others,” Aya said.
In a statement issued by the Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Media Office, it was revealed that the armed men vandalised several windows.
“However, with the swift intervention of officers from the local police station, community vigilantes, and concerned youths, the attackers were repelled and one suspect was apprehended,” the statement read.
The media office additionally claimed that Suberu, a local of the community and characterized as a ritualist, admitted that this was his third occasion of being involved in assaults on the senator’s family home.
A crowd allegedly tried to lynch the suspect prior to his rescue and subsequent transfer to the police.
“A cutlass and charms were recovered from him. Other suspects involved in the attack, reportedly armed with dangerous weapons, remained at large at press time,” the statement added.
