A victim who had been kept hostage by kidnappers for six months has been freed by the Kaduna State Police Command.

The rescue operation took place on Monday around 4:00 pm during an anti-crime patrol mission in the Madachi-Galadimawa area within Zaria Local Government Area, according to ASP Mansir Hassan, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who was speaking on Tuesday in Kaduna. The police patrol team came across people they suspected of being kidnappers.

“Upon seeing the police operatives, the suspects fled, prompting a chase. As a result, we were able to rescue a kidnapped victim from their hideout,” Hassan stated. “The rescued individual was immediately taken to the Muslim Specialist Hospital in Zaria for urgent medical attention.”

It was discovered during the inquiry that the victim had been kidnapped six months earlier while traveling to Kontagora, Niger. The evading suspects in the kidnapping are still being sought after.

“The police are also working tirelessly to locate the victim’s relatives. We will provide further updates as the investigation progresses,” Hassan assured.
