A Nigerian matchmaker has stirred reactions online after accusing a lady and her friends of running up an excessive restaurant bill of over ₦1.05 million during a date she arranged.

The matchmaker, who shared the incident on social media, said she introduced the woman to a man with the intention of setting up a serious relationship.

According to her account, the pair initially went on a first date where the man reportedly spent about ₦200,000.

She claimed that on a second occasion, the lady reached out to the man again and suggested they meet up at a restaurant, saying she was bored and wanted to hang out.

However, things reportedly took a different turn when the lady arrived at the venue with four of her friends, turning what was supposed to be a private outing into a group gathering.

The matchmaker alleged that the group proceeded to order several meals and drinks, which pushed the total bill to over ₦1.05 million.

She further stated that the man was surprised by the amount and offered to pay 70% of the bill, asking the lady and her friends to cover the remaining balance.

This, she said, led to a disagreement at the restaurant, after which the man eventually left, leaving them to settle the bill themselves.

Expressing her disappointment over the incident, the matchmaker said she felt the situation had been mishandled and was unfortunate given her intention of helping both parties build a relationship.
