Manchester City’s Agüero ‘Admits’ He Won’t Be Fit For Champions League

Sergio Aguero took over the duties of Mikel Arteta prior to Manchester City’s premier league clash against Leicester City to warm up the players.

Sergio Agüero has reportedly resigned himself to missing the remainder of the Champions League campaign.

Manchester City have flown out to Lisbon for their quarter-final against Lyon. If things go their way, the Citizens are just three wins away from their first Champions League title.

But they will have to do it without their record goalscorer.

Agüero suffered a tear to the meniscus in his left knee in June and had been hoping to return for these Champions League games.

According to the Guardian, Agüero has now all but accepted he won’t be fit in time to feature. The Argentine may still travel to Lisbon but is highly unlikely to feature.

That leaves the onus on Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling to lead the line for the Citizens. The pair scored a goal each last week as City saw off Real Madrid in the round of 16.
