- The move to the UK did not provide the expected relief from her previous challenges.

A Nigerian lady residing in the United Kingdom has gone viral after sharing a deeply emotional account of her struggles abroad, where she says life has been marked by hardship, discrimination, and constant survival pressure.
In a video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), she lamented that relocating to the UK has not brought her the relief she expected, as she has been forced to take on multiple low-paying jobs just to get by.
Expressing her frustration, she said:
“I don’t know why God punished me by making me a Nigerian. The worst thing that has happened to me is being Nigerian. Since moving to the UK, life has been extremely difficult.”
She explained that she has worked several demanding jobs, including cleaning and care work, yet still finds it difficult to cope financially and emotionally. According to her, she has also experienced bullying, verbal abuse, and physical mistreatment while trying to survive abroad.
“I’ve worked as a cleaner, a care worker, cleaned sh*t and taken on all sorts of jobs just to survive, yet life remains a struggle. I have been bullied, insulted, and even slapped,” she added.
Despite her challenges abroad, she said returning to Nigeria is not an option for her, citing insecurity and ongoing violence in the country. This leaves her feeling trapped between two difficult realities.
“I don’t feel safe returning to Nigeria because of the killings and insecurity,” she said.
Her emotional outburst has sparked mixed reactions online, with some social media users expressing sympathy for her situation, while others criticised her remarks about Nigeria.
The incident has once again highlighted the difficult realities many migrants face abroad, including harsh working conditions, discrimination, and the emotional strain of being far from home.
