A Nigerian soldier has gone viral on social media after sharing safety tips for motorists on what to do when their vehicles break down in isolated or unsafe areas.
In a video making the rounds online, the soldier advised drivers to always put their personal safety first, stressing that cars and valuables can be replaced, but human life cannot.
He urged motorists to remain calm in such situations, warning that panic can lead to poor judgment.
“Gentlemen, if your car breaks down in the middle of the road or any lonely place, pay attention to this. These are the things that you should do to keep yourself away from danger. Number 1: Don’t panic. Calm yourself because if you panic, you will be confused, and once you are confused, you cannot reason well,” he said.
The soldier also cautioned against staying too close to a faulty vehicle, especially in high-risk or deserted locations.
“Number two: Keep a distance from that vehicle. You cannot be too close to the vehicle. Remember, this vehicle can be replaced. If anything goes wrong with your life, you cannot be replaced,” he added.
He further advised motorists to avoid attracting attention by removing visible valuables such as wristwatches and jewelry and keeping them out of sight while waiting for help.
“Number three: All the valuables on your body, things like necklaces, rings and wristwatches, take them away from your body. You can package them and even hide them, maybe inside your pants or anywhere. Think smarter. Reason. Your life cannot be replaced. Stay safe at all times. My message be that.”
