Why my mother warned me never to post her on social media again – Actress Juliana Olayode shares

Juliana Olayode, a Nigerian film actress, has revealed why her mother instructed her not to post on social media again.

The actress, who plays Toyosi, nicknamed Toyo Baby, in Funke Akindele’s Jenifa’s Dairy, revealed the reason in an Instagram video posted on Mothering Sunday.

Speaking in English and Yoruba, the movie star revealed that her mother warned her against sharing her on social media because when she published a video of them at the cinema on Facebook, people began noticing and staring at her in public.

Juliana Olayode said:

“Happy Sunday y’all and happy mother’s day to all the amazing mums out there, I should be posting my mum today but my mum has warned me not to post her on social media anymore so until she changes her mind I can’t.”

“My mum said: “hello Jully, don’t post me on social media anymore. The last time you put me on Facebook when we went to watch ‘Lion of Judah’ (A Tribe Called Judah), all our neighbors just keep staring at me”.

The 28-year-old once chastised a troll who criticized her mother for her inability to articulate herself in English after being requested to review Funke’s film, A Tribe Called Judah.

The troll said Juliana Olayode appears to come from a wealthy household despite her mother’s inability to speak English, but Juilaina refuted the claim, claiming she came from nothing.

In her words:

“My mum can’t speak English but I LOVE her to LIFE!!! And I am VERY PROUD of her. No matter what, love your parents, be proud of them and celebrate them always.”
