Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, a well-known street-pop singer and performer, recently provoked outrage online with a revelation about his past that he shared with Brooke Bailey.

Why I exhumed my mother’s remains, over 10 years after her death – Portable

During an interview with Brooke Bailey, Portable showed the program presenter where his mother was buried before deciding to exhume her remains and relocate it.

During his interview with Brooke, the street-pop musician explained why he wanted to remove his mother’s remains from her prior burial site.

Portable stated that when he was invited to go and make supplications at his mother’s burial some years ago, he discovered that his mother’s relatives had sold the land on which she was buried, and he was denied access to his mother.

The singer, who was born and bred in Sango-Otta, is well-known for his street smarts and candour. However, many people are unfamiliar with his narrative.

During his conversation with DJ Brooke Bailey, he stated that he was just 13 years old when his mother died, and that growing up with a struggling father was difficult.

He also stated that wanting to be close to his mother was one of the reasons he returned to exhume her bones and rebury her in his new home in Sango, which he is now building.
