Nigerian activist writes to Embassies requesting Omowunmi and late Mohbad's son, Liam not to leave the country

Akinola Adelabu-Soul, a human rights activist, writes to 13 Nigerian embassies requesting that Omowunmi and Liam not to leave the country while the investigation into Mohbad’s death is ongoing.

The letter was captioned “Urgent Request to Monitor and Prevent Departure of Mohbad’s Wife and Child”.

The activist believes that the facts behind the artist’s death are still unclear, and that investigations have led to the indictment of a specific nurse.

According to him, the case is extremely delicate, and the disappearance of Omowunmi and Liam would destabilize it.

His letter was addressed to the following Nigerian embassies: the United States, Brazil, France, Italy, Russia, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, the Republic of Cyprus, Greenland, Canada, the Republic of Korea, and China.

Akinola copied the Nigerian Immigration Service and the Lagos State Police Command headquarters.

Taiwo Olawanle, Omowunmi’s lawyer, argued that the activist was not in a position to write the letter, and that he could have addressed his concerns through other channels.

He clarified that Omowunmi had no plans to leave the country since she is still devoted to finding justice for her husband and getting to the bottom of the issue.
