The United States Embassy has announced that its offices in Abuja and Lagos will be closed on July 4, 2025, in observance of Independence Day.
This annual celebration marks the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 — the day the Continental Congress officially proclaimed the separation of the 13 American colonies from British rule.
As a result of the holiday, regular consular services — including visa appointments — will be temporarily suspended at both the embassy and the consulate.

It’s important to remember that the United States officially declared its independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776.
