“Their Salary Is Now Gbese Wage”- Isaac Fayose Urges FG to Increase Salaries of Security Officers

  • Isaac Fayose has urged the Federal Government to increase the salaries of Nigeria’s security operatives.
  • His comments sparked mixed reactions over welfare, hardship, and past conduct of law enforcement officers.

Businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has called on the Federal Government to increase the salaries of Nigeria’s security operatives, citing the growing economic hardship in the country.

In a statement shared online, Fayose said many officers are now struggling financially, claiming their current earnings are no longer enough to sustain a decent standard of living.

He made the remark while reacting to a scene of security personnel gathered at a bus stop, which he suggested reflected the worsening economic reality.

“Please, Federal Government should increase the salaries of our security operatives. Look at how they are gathered at this bus stop looking for money, there is no money in town anymore. Their salary is no longer a living wage but ‘Gbese wage.’” he was heard saying in the video

His comments quickly sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some users agreeing that security workers deserve better welfare, while others referenced past incidents involving law enforcement.

Reacting online, @Kingkosec wrote:

“It can’t be better, let us stop deceiving ourselves and find the solution now it’s early.”

Another user, @i_am_dandollar, said:

“Remembering EndSars? I don’t pity them at all. Make the hunger wire them well.”

@MondayCaroline also commented:

“Security operatives salaries is too small for them to feed their families.”
