  • Nigerian singer Spyro, has stirred conversations online after calling out some of Nigeria’s most influential pastors over what he described as silence concerning the country’s worsening insecurity.
  • In a video shared online, the singer mentioned prominent clerics including Enoch Adeboye, David Oyedepo, Bolaji Idowu, and Jerry Eze, questioning why more spiritual leaders are not speaking strongly against the increasing cases of kidnappings, killings, and violent attacks across the country.

Nigerian singer Oludipe Oluwadipe, popularly known as Spyro has sparked heated reactions online after calling out some of Nigeria’s most influential pastors over what he described as their silence on the country’s worsening insecurity crisis.

In a viral video making rounds on social media, the “Who Is Your Guy?” crooner questioned why respected church leaders such as Enoch Adeboye, David Oyedepo, Bolaji Idowu and Jerry Eze have not been more vocal about the killings, kidnappings and rising violence across the country.

According to Spyro, many Nigerians are living in fear while spiritual leaders who command millions of followers remain largely quiet on the situation.

The singer’s comments quickly triggered mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians agreeing with his concerns while others defended the pastors and accused him of unfair criticism.

One user wrote:

“This one has sense. We need to speak up really, they have made us numb to the violence.”

Another user defended some of the pastors, saying:

“Oyedepo is not silent though. He has been very vocal about the insecurity in the country. He spoke about the kidnapped kids last Sunday.”

Others, however, argued that religious leaders should use their platforms more aggressively to demand accountability from the government and security agencies.

A critic reacted:

“The church is too silent.”

Meanwhile, some social media users turned the criticism back on Spyro himself, questioning what celebrities have personally done to help ordinary Nigerians facing hardship and insecurity.

Nigeria has continued to battle cases of kidnappings, bandit attacks and violent killings in several parts of the country, with many citizens repeatedly calling for stronger action from both political and religious leaders.
