Senator Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker from Kaduna Central, has responded to the confirmation of Yemi Cardoso as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)  as he urge him to rescue the country’s devalued currency.

According to Gistlover, the Senate confirmed Dr. Olayemi Cardoso’s nomination as the governor of the top bank on Tuesday under the direction of Godswill Akpabio.

Cardoso was one of four candidates shortlisted to serve as the CBN’s deputy governors, who will oversee the institution’s operations for the ensuing five years.

Emem Nnana Usoro, Philip Ikeazor, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, and Dr. Bala M. Bello are among the deputy governors.

Recall that Cardoso resumed his duties as CBN governor last week in an acting capacity while he awaited the Senate’s screening and anticipated confirmation.

In a post on his X account on Tuesday, Sani responded to the news, saying Nigerians were looking to the new CBN Governor to save the national currency, reset monetary policy, and depoliticize the organization.

Additionally, the ex-lawmaker advised Cardoso to stay away from financial parasites like banks and forex sponges, political rice farmers, and false pyramid schemes.
