Popular comedian and activist MC Okrika has stirred reactions online after confronting Nigerian police officers in Ikom, Cross River State, over alleged extortion and suspected possession of illegal substances.

In a viral four-minute video making rounds on social media, MC Okrika was seen filming officers stationed at an improvised checkpoint while accusing them of extorting ₦150,000 from a farmer riding a motorcycle.

During the confrontation, the comedian also pointed at one of the officers allegedly holding small brown packets that appeared to resemble banned weed. The officers, dressed in black uniforms, appeared uncomfortable during the recording, with one attempting to hide his face while another questioned why he was being filmed.

MC Okrika, known for his anti-corruption comedy and activism associated with the Ratel movement, demanded that the allegedly extorted money be returned.

The viral clip quickly triggered debates online, with many Nigerians expressing frustration over alleged police misconduct.

Reacting to the incident, @high9ine wrote:

“There’s no way this country is real. Imagine seeing a police officer preparing to smoke before going out to harass citizens.”

Another user, @Luckyman_247, praised the comedian’s actions.

“MC Okrika kudos to you, this is the way to go. Technology will continue to play a major role in reshaping Nigeria Police.”

However, some social media users felt the comedian’s approach was too aggressive.

@KelechiGraceNw1 commented:

“Guy, you’re passing a message in a rude and mannerless way. Please calm down and talk.”

Others used the incident to express broader concerns about the country’s state of affairs.

@DesmondKRichar1 wrote:

“This country is due for reboot, why don’t we restart this country and start afresh. It is getting out of hand with funny characters all over.”

Another user, @ChimdiEkeo59125, added:

“In Nigeria, the law is not blind. It only pretends not to see certain people. Even worse, it’s senseless when the law enforcers are the breakers.”

Some users also called on the Inspector-General of Police and senior police authorities to investigate the matter.
