Despite reports of their rumoured rift over an undisclosed incident, photos of Super Eagles Captain, Mikel Obi and team mate, Ogenyi Onazi playing table tennis alongside others has surfaced.

However from the new photos, it seems there is peace in the Super Eagles camp, despite the rumour. Here are the photos below;

Recall that it was reported that there is tension in Nigeria’s camp ahead of the 2018 World Cup, over a rumoured stand-off between captain John Obi Mikel and his deputy Ogenyi Onazi. However in a chat with OwnGoalNigeria, a member of the team who pleaded anonymity, insisted everything was fine.

“First of all there’s no truth in the story. Mikel doesn’t have any issue with Onazi. How is that even possible?

“Mikel is our leader both on and off the pitch. If at all anything happened between them it was the usual match tension. Nothing more. Talking about them not been on speaking terms, Mikel hardly talks.“Skippo (Mikel) is very quiet and reserved, so you can’t say he has any rift with someone base on that. Onazi is outspoken but even at that, he can’t speak rudely to the captain. People are trying to whip up division where there’s none,” he said.

Super Eagles officials, Toyin Ibitoye, who also reacted to the rumour rubbished speculations that captain of the team, John Mikel Obi and his vice, Onazi Ogenyi, are not on speaking terms. Ibitoye, reacting to the story on Twitter, called it the “biggest and fattest lie in town right now”.

When quizzed about it by a fan, he simply retweeted the link and said: “This is the biggest and fattest lie in town right now…Please discountenance it COMPLETELY.”

Onazi was left out of the team that lost 1-0 to Czech Republic, after struggling in a friendly match against England last week.
