The only goal of the game was scored by Tomas Kalas who hammered in a rebound to give his side the lead. This is the second time Nigeria will face Czech Republic. Their first meeting was at a four-nation tournament, the King Hassan II International Cup, in 1996 with Czech Republic winning 2-1.

Wednesday’s game saw the return of Wilfred Ndidi who missed the Super Eagles last two friendlies and gave a good account of himself.

In their five friendly games, the Super Eagles lost three, won one and drew one (beat Poland 1-0, lost 2-0 to Serbia, drew 1-1 with DR Congo, lost 2-1 to England and lost 1-0 to Czech Republic).

They will open their campaign in Russia against Croatia in Group D in June 16.

The team had a good play in the match but the Czech team eventually carried the day.
