PDP Vows To Teach Ebonyi Gov. ‘A Lesson’ For Defecting to APC.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are set to teach Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, a lesson in politics after he dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP in a statement by its acting Caretaker Committee Chairman in Ebonyi State, Fred Udogu said Umahi only dumped PDP for APC verbally but has failed to resign his membership officially.

He further alleged that the Governor wants to be hobnobbing between the two parties but he won’t be allowed to have his way.

To prevent this, Udogu said the PDP in Ebonyi state will audit the list of registered members and permanently delete the Governor’s name from its register.

“Nobody has the right to belong to two political parties at the same time. Very soon, we will call for the register of the party where we will remove his name as a member of PDP because he is not our member and will never be there.

“He has not resigned from PDP. He only resigned verbally and declared for APC, but we will teach him how to declare for a new party properly.

“Again, there was no PDP under Dave Umahi.

“Dave left PDP as far back as 2017 and the owners and leaders of PDP at the national level are aware of this.

“That is why he wants to cross his legs over PDP and remain in APC and we said, no,” he told Daily Trust in an interview.

Recall Governor Umahi formally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Ebonyi Governor disclosed his defection from PDP to APC while addressing journalists in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital on Tuesday, November 17.

The Governor claimed he moved to the ruling APC because of injustice meted out to the Southeast by his former political party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Umahi also claimed he has officially registered at his ward in Uburu, Ohanzara Local Government Area of the state as a member of the ruling APC on November 10, 2020.
