“Pay Me ₦100,000 First”- Carter Efe Breaks Silence After Babcock Declares His Certificate Fake

  • Carter Efe has reacted to Babcock University’s planned legal action over the certificate he shared online, joking that he would only appear if the institution paid him ₦100,000 for transportation.
  • His response follows the university’s declaration that the certificate is fake and its warning of possible legal consequences.

Nigerian comedian and content creator Carter Efe has reacted to Babcock University’s announcement that it is considering legal action over the certificate he shared online, which the institution described as fake.

In a fresh statement posted online, Carter Efe appeared to mock the university’s move, saying he would only honour any invitation if his transportation was covered.

“Babcock University, I heard you guys are looking for me because of the fake certificate I posted online, but I won’t show up unless you pay ₦100,000 ticket for me to show up.”

His response comes after Babcock University publicly distanced itself from a certificate the comedian shared on X following an interview with Egungun of Lagos, where he claimed to have graduated with a First Class degree in Biochemistry.

The university said the document contained several inconsistencies and did not reflect its official academic procedures. It explained that it has never used the classification “First Class Upper,” noting that the correct designation is “First Class Honours.”

Babcock further stated that it does not issue honorary certificates to celebrate undergraduate academic performance and warned that anyone found creating, distributing, or using forged academic credentials could face legal consequences.

The institution also disclosed that it is taking steps to pursue legal action, reiterating that the certificate circulated by Carter Efe is not genuine.

Carter Efe’s latest remarks have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some social media users viewing his response as a joke, while others questioned whether he was taking the matter seriously.
