A social media user has gone viral after sharing a heartwarming experience involving an accidental bank transfer of ₦1.8 million to the wrong Opay account.

According to the post, the sender mistakenly transferred the money to another person’s account and initially believed the funds were lost after repeated attempts to reach the recipient failed because the phone number was switched off.

The user explained that about 30 minutes later, the recipient answered the call, and he pleaded for the money to be returned.

In the post, he revealed that he even offered the recipient ₦100,000 as a gesture of appreciation if he returned the remaining balance.

“I sent 1.8m to someone’s Opay account by mistake, I called the number, it was switched off, I was already giving up. I called 30 minutes later, the person picked and I pleaded with him to return it. I said he should remove 100k and send the rest.”

To his surprise, the recipient returned the entire ₦1.8 million without deducting any amount.

“He sent back 1.8m, without removing anything from it. I sent him 150k without thinking twice.”

The story has since sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many praising the recipient’s honesty and integrity.
