The Nigeria Police Force has ordered the dismissal and prosecution of Assistant Superintendent of Police Nuhu Usman and other officers involved in the fatal shooting of Oghenemine Ogidi in Effurun, Delta State.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon, the decision followed the findings of the Force Disciplinary Committee, which concluded that ASP Usman violated Force Order 237 and firearm use regulations.
The statement noted that the officers’ actions were considered unlawful and unprofessional, leading to their immediate dismissal and transfer to Force Headquarters in Abuja for expedited disciplinary and legal proceedings.
Reacting to the development, Nigerians took to social media to express mixed opinions, with many calling for stricter enforcement and systemic reforms within the police force.
