Nigeria Is Safer Than It Was 7 Years Ago – Defense Minister.

The Minister of Defense, Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi, has insisted that Nigeria is secured today than it was under the previous administration many years ago.

The Major General, according to him, is one of the best in Africa and, provided the right weaponry and assistance, can defeat any enemy.

While speaking on the Politics Today program on Channels TV, the Minister of Defense said on Thursday that the Buhari rule had subdued Boko Haram and encouraged Nigerians to appreciate the government’s efforts.

He said:

“Look backward in 2015, 2014, 2013; If you recall the condition in this country, remember that. 200 people were murdered in a mosque in Kano. Also the Emir of Kano was targeted.

“The path to Kaduna and Abuja from Kano was impassable. From Kaduna to Abuja, we had over 20 roadblocks. It takes about fifteen hours for you to hit where you come from. Also in Abuja, there were bombings. In those years, everywhere in Nigeria, you find that there have been upheavals, no stability, people can’t move.

“You know what we did when this government arrived. Boko Haram has seized around 20 local governments in Borno state. But they were all subdued as soon as Buhari came, and we took over all these things, and we even said that we had practically defeated Boko Haram.

“At the moment, most people believe we have lost power or we are not doing our best because of the occasional attacks here and there. The problem in this country is known to most of you. It overstretches the armed forces.

“The other thing that we would have earned, some of these nations we call our friends don’t help us. They are not ready, with the money we have and all to give us what we need. But what I’m trying to say, of course, is that Nigeria is better than we were seven years ago,”
