Goods worth millions of naira were destroyed after a massive fire engulfed the Alaba International Market in Lagos on Tuesday night, October 21.
The cause of the blaze is yet to be determined, but videos circulating online showed thick smoke rising from the market as heartbroken traders watched their goods go up in flames.
Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were quickly alerted and worked tirelessly through the night to bring the situation under control.
Situated along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Alaba International Market is one of Nigeria’s biggest commercial centres, known for its wide range of electronics and building materials.
