Lives Lost After Gas Exploded At Baruwa, Lagos State [Photos]

Many people have been reported dead after a gas explosion hit Ipaja Baruwa, Lagos state.

According to a media report on the sad event, it happened today, 8th October 2020 at excatly 6:00am when people were yet to wake up from their sleep. The sound and the raging fire had the residents running helter-skelter just to save their lives.

Eight out of the people living in the area died whilst houses and properties were burnt into ashes. The LASEMA Director-General, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu who rushed to the scene upon several calls gave his side of the story, saying;

“On arrival at the scene of the incident, it was observed that there was a gas explosion at the aforementioned location. Further investigation at the scene revealed that the gas station belonging to Best Roof Cooking Gas exploded by burning buildings around. The cause of the explosion could not be ascertained at the moment.

Unfortunately, four mortalities were recorded and several others injured. A combined effort of the Agency’s Tiger team, Dolphin team, LRU Fire, LASG Fire Service, NPF, NUPENG, and LNSC are on ground to curtail the spread of the fire to other buildings.”
