Nigerian skit maker and actress KieKie has shared details about briefly living with her husband, Tunji Ilori, before they officially tied the knot.
During a conversation with media personality Toke Makinwa, she explained that they stayed together for about four months leading up to their wedding, describing the move as a practical choice rather than anything planned long-term.
According to her, her house rent was due to expire in September, while their traditional marriage rites had already been completed ahead of their white wedding scheduled for January. Instead of renewing the lease for a short duration, she decided it made more sense to move in with her partner temporarily.
She added that their busy schedules meant they hardly spent much time at home during that period, as both were frequently traveling and committed to work engagements.
“Before my husband and I got married, we lived together for about four months. My rent had expired, and we were getting married in January, so I said to myself, ‘Why pay another rent?’ People might judge it, but I wasn’t going to waste money. We’d already done our introduction. The church didn’t know about it, and I used to sing in church that time,” she remarked.
She added that the short period they lived together didn’t bring any new discoveries about her partner, largely because their demanding schedules left them with little time to fully experience living under the same roof.
