“’I Don’t Participate In Fraud”- IK Ogbonna Responds To Romance Scam Allegations

Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has strongly denied reports linking him to an alleged romance scam that recently went viral on social media.

The controversy began after online reports claimed the actor was being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in collaboration with the FBI over an alleged $75,000 romance scam. The reports further alleged that a 49-year-old American woman, identified as Kimberly Ann, filed a complaint, claiming she had been in an online relationship with someone posing as the actor since 2025.

Reacting to the allegations, IK Ogbonna took to his Instagram Stories to dismiss the claims, describing them as entirely false and aimed at damaging his reputation.

According to the actor, he has never been involved in internet fraud, romance scams, or any other criminal activity.

“This report is completely false, malicious, and without any factual basis. I don’t support or participate in any form of internet fraud, romance scams, or any other fraudulent activity,” he stated.

Ogbonna also revealed that this was not the first time fraudsters had exploited his identity to deceive members of the public. He explained that unknown individuals have repeatedly created fake social media accounts using his name and photographs to scam unsuspecting victims.

The actor stressed that he has never authorized anyone to represent him online, request money on his behalf, or engage in private conversations while pretending to be him.

In his statement, he urged fans and the general public to stay alert and avoid falling victim to impersonators.

“Unfortunately, this is not the first time my name, image, and identity have been used by unknown individuals operating fake social media accounts to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

“I have never authorized anyone to represent me online, solicit money on my behalf, or engage in private conversations pretending to be me.

“Please remain vigilant and be extremely careful of impersonators and catfish accounts that exploit my identity to scam unsuspecting people.”

His response comes amid growing concerns over online impersonation and romance scams involving fake celebrity accounts on social media platforms.
