Grammy-Award nominee Ayra Starr apologized for disrespecting veteran singer King Sunny Ade in a viral video. Starr was reportedly knocked by netizens for walking past Burnaboy’s mother without greeting her. She defended herself as a proper Yoruba girl and apologized for the incident.

Ayra Starr, a Grammy Award nominee, has expressed her regret in public for disrespecting veteran singer King Sunny Ade after being moved by a video of herself that went viral online.

Since a new video of the "Rush" singer appeared online, people have been talking about Ayra Starr. In the video, she is seen standing and extending a warm greeting to musician King Sunny Ade, who is 77 years old.


Netizens severely criticize the Mavin Records signee for ignoring Burnaboy's mother when they pass by.At the Afrozons Pre-Grammy party, which was hosted by Heineken NG, this happened yesterday, January 26, 2024. 

In response to the internet teasing, Ayra Starr stated that she is a proper Yoruba girl and that the lights and nerves after her entrance carried her away. She also added that she didn't mean to be disrespectful.

Ayra Starr noted that she had performed a U-Turn by greeting everyone properply including Sunny Ade, Burna Boy's mother, and other people.

 In a post that was uploaded via her page on the well-known microblogging site X, formerly known as Twitter. Ayra Starr wrote;” 😭😭 I’m so sorry , I had just walked in and all the lights and nerves didn’t let me see but i came back around to greet everyone properly, I have never been that girl to be disrespectful, I’m a proper Yoruba girlllll and the video didn’t start until after I’d greeted burna’s mom ! I’m very sorry to the legend, uncle and King Sunny Ade.
