The recent collapse of a significant bridge in the state’s Shendam Local Government Area has raised concerns of Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

In a statement released by his director of press and public affairs, Mr. Gyang Bere, on Tuesday in Jos, Mutfwang described the incident as unfortunate.

In terms of connecting many local communities for economic activities, the bridge that came down on Sunday after a lot of rain played a significant role.

He predicted that some of the local communities would face short-term difficulties as a result of the bridge’s collapse, which connected them to their farmlands.

In contrast, he expressed relief that no one had been hurt and urged the affected communities to use the temporary diversion routes.

The governor reportedly expressed concern about the bridge’s repeated collapse and emphasized the urgent need for a quality reconstruction in order to prevent similar incidents in the future.

In order to ensure value-added services for Nigerians, particularly in rural communities, he also discussed the urgent need to adopt best practices in the administration of all government contracts.

In order to allow the residents of Shendam to conduct their daily lives and economic affairs, he reassured them that the government was committed to quickly reconstructing the bridge.

Government is diligently working to address this situation,” he said.

The governor also urged residents of the Plateau to exercise caution in light of forecasts for flooding in some areas of the state.
