“Go To Yaba And See How Women Are Touched Inappropriately” – Actress Shine Rosman Raises Alarm

  • Actress Shine Rosman has raised concerns over the alleged normalisation of s+xual har+ssment in public spaces across Lagos, especially in Yaba.
  • The actress questioned the lack of accountability and called for stronger action to protect women from harassment.

Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has sparked conversations online after speaking out against the alleged normalisation of s+xual har+ssment in public spaces across Lagos State.

The actress made the remarks during an interview with media personality Tolu Afilaka, where she expressed concerns about the safety of women, especially in crowded areas like Yaba.

According to Rosman, inappropriate touching of women in public has become so common that many people now see it as normal behaviour.

She said:

“Do you know how bad s+xual har+ssment is in Lagos? Like go to Yaba, as a girl and see how you will be touched inappropriately. Everybody hearing this knows that it is true. But till today, nothing is being done about it.”

The actress questioned why stronger actions have not been taken against perpetrators despite how widespread the issue has allegedly become.

Speaking further, she stated:

“You’re walking in Yaba and people are touching you inappropriately and nothing will happen.”

Rosman also raised concerns about women having to defend themselves if authorities fail to act.

“If the government is not going to do anything, is it not ok for us to defend ourselves?”

Describing the situation as deeply normalised in society, the actress added:

“In 2026, in a country like Nigeria, s+xual har+ssment is still one of the most passive things.”

She further warned that ignoring such actions in public spaces could embolden worse behaviour in private.

According to her:

“If a man can s+xually h+rass you casually during the day, what do you think he can do behind closed doors when no one is looking?”
