Nollywood actress and film producer Rita Daniels has stirred conversation in political circles after reports suggested she is not aligning with her estranged in-law, Ned Nwoko, ahead of the 2027 elections.
The claim was made by Ossai Ovie Success, who alleged that Daniels has thrown her support behind former Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the Delta North senatorial race.
According to him, Daniels was present during Okowa’s consultation visit to Aniocha South Local Government Area, where she reportedly took part in activities at the event. He further claimed that her presence went beyond mere attendance, stating that she openly showed support for the former governor during the gathering.
In his account, Ossai said Daniels was seen celebrating Okowa singing, dancing, and praising him in front of party members and women groups.
“Nollywood actress and producer Rita Daniels, estranged mother-in-law of Senator Ned Nwoko, has publicly endorsed Sen Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa’s bid for the Delta North Senatorial seat in 2027,” he wrote.
Her reported endorsement has drawn attention, especially as Nwoko is also believed to have political ambitions within the same region.
The situation comes against the backdrop of an ongoing rift between Daniels and Nwoko. The tension is believed to have deepened following reports that actress Regina Daniels, Rita’s daughter, parted ways with the senator amid alleged domestic concerns.
There have also been claims that Nwoko accused his estranged wife of substance use, a development that further heightened the controversy. Additionally, the situation reportedly worsened after one of Rita Daniels’ sons was arrested over alleged cyberbullying.
