Egypt’s Electoral Commission Head, Lashin Ibrahim Dies of Covid-19

Mr Lashin Ibrahim, the Former deputy chief judge of a top court in Egypt, has died of dreaded COVID-19 disease.

The serving head of the country’s National Electoral Commission died a few days after contracting Coronavirus disease.

DPA reports that Ibrahim had tested positive for the novel virus 20 days ago.  The deceased had served as Egypt’s electoral commission head since 2017.

Reports revealed that Ibrahim’s last public appearance was on December 14, when he announced Egypt’s legislative polls results. The country’s electoral commission and heads of Egypt’s two houses of parliament have registered their sadness on the demise of the public office holder.

Gistlover understands that Egypt has recorded nearly 130,000 cases and 7,260 deaths of COVID-19 since its outbreak in the country.
