Popular media personality Daddy Freeze has joined the ongoing conversation around the so-called “Peller culture,” stating that content creator Peller should not be held responsible for the perceived decline in academic excellence in Nigeria.
The debate was sparked after rapper Ycee criticised what he termed “Peller culture,” arguing that Nigerian society is increasingly valuing viral fame over education and intellectual achievement. He described the trend as an “Olodo Uprising.”
Reacting to the backlash, Daddy Freeze maintained that Peller simply capitalised on an already flawed system and should not be blamed for society’s shifting values around education.
According to him, “Yes, we have an Olodo culture in Nigeria. But I find it unfair to put the blame on Peller, who is an intelligent young man that took advantage of a broken system. He didn’t break the system.”
He repeated the sentiment that the issue is systemic rather than individual-driven, stressing that Peller is not responsible for the wider cultural shift.
