- Justice Mark Chidiebere, popularly known as Justice Crack, remains in DSS custody after his lawyer unexpectedly withdrew his bail application during a Federal High Court hearing in Abuja.
- The development sparked reactions online, with supporters describing the social media activist as a whistleblower speaking on poor conditions faced by Nigerian soldiers.

There was fresh drama at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday as the bail hearing of social media personality Justice Mark Chidiebere, popularly known as Justice Crack, ended without his release.
Justice Crack, who was arrested on April 28 by the Nigerian Army over a viral video allegedly exposing the poor welfare and living conditions of frontline soldiers, appeared in court amid growing public attention surrounding his case.
During proceedings, his lawyer, Barrister Marshal Abubakar, unexpectedly withdrew the bail application before the judge, a move that left supporters shocked inside and outside the courtroom.
Reacting to the development, Randy Peterz shared details of what transpired during the hearing.
“What happened in court today is quite unfortunate. Barrister Marshal Abubakar withdrawn Justice Cracks’ bail application right in front of the judge,” he said.
According to reports, the withdrawal means Justice Crack will remain in DSS custody pending the continuation of his trial scheduled for May 25.
The case has continued to attract attention online, especially among activists and supporters who believe the content creator was merely speaking out about the welfare challenges faced by Nigerian soldiers.
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore was also reportedly present at the court premises alongside supporters demanding his release.
Many Nigerians on social media have since described Justice Crack as a whistleblower, while others argued that issues concerning the military and national security should be handled cautiously.
