Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has been declared dead following a protracted fight with leukemia.

It was discovered that the Governor died after all effort to fly him abroad for adequate treatment failed and so resolved to be under the care of State House physicians till his passing.

The source said: “Akeredolu is dead; he died in Lagos.

“They were looking for dialysis machines to be sent to his secret location in Lagos last week.”

On Wednesday, however, the late governor passed away at around 2am in the morning in a German hospital where he was undergoing treatment, according to Naija News.

The Ondo governor was rendered incapacitated for several months due to prostate cancer and leukemia, according to report.

Remember how the sick governor declined to go to Akure, the capital of Ondo State, to take up his duties when he returned to Nigeria in September after a three-month medical leave in Germany?

After Akeredolu decided to stay in Oyo State’s capital of Ibadan and try to run his state from there, the public were incensed and there were calls for him to step down as governor due to the inability to do so.

After receiving instructions from President Bola Tinubu to transfer authority to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Governor Akeredolu recently took another leave of absence in November.

Aiyedatiwa assumed the role of acting Governor and peace has since returned to the South Weet state following President Tinubu’s intervention in the political impasse.
