Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, early this afternoon escaped death as Reigners Bible Church International, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State collapsed.
No fewer than three persons have been confirmed dead in the incident which happened at about 12 noon on Saturday.
A source said that the founder of the church, Apostle Akan Weeks was supposed to be ordained Bishop today.
The source said that the state governor, Udom Gabriel Emmanuel and other high profile citizens of the state were present at the event when the church, located at Km1 Uyo Village Rd, Off Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo, collapsed..
From all indications, the governor, alongside others were trapped in the building. We gathered he is in good condition as at the time of filing this report as he was rushed to the government house immediately.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Irene Ugbo, is yet to respond to a message sent to her mobile number.
