All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State has suffered an impediment after the Seibarugu political dynasty Discarded them and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The influential group, comprising thousands of members across the state, is led by a former acting Governor and Speaker of the House of Assembly, Chief Werinipre Seibarugu.

The Seibarugu Dynasty’s coordinator, Mr. Ebiye Waripamo, made a formal declaration in a meeting with Governor Douye Diri at Government House in Yenagoa, stating that they were drawn to the PDP by the governor’s leadership style, which they described as peaceful and development-focused.

Waripamo claimed that after evaluating Diri’s performance over the past nearly four years, particularly the current state of peace and security and the ongoing development projects spread throughout the state, they had no choice but to work with him to advance Bayelsa.

He gave the governor and PDP members an assurance of their unwavering support for the governor’s reelection on November 11, 2023.

We left Jerusalem and traveled to Egypt, but now that we are back in Jerusalem, this is where we will stay,” he declared. We won’t be returning.

“Your Excellency, we have noticed your progress in the state’s development and we are impressed. Considering your leadership style, we returned to PDP.

In addition, the PDP national financial secretary, Daniel Woyengikuro, claimed to have led party members in the Gbarain-Ekpetiama axis of the Yenagoa local government area in formally introducing the Seibarugu dynasty to the governor.

Members of the group, according to Woyengikuro, are the main opposition forces in Yenagoa Constituency 2. He expressed confidence that by joining the PDP, the opposition will lose the election with ease.

Governor Douye Diri responded by praising Chief Seibarugu for his conviction and moral character.

Many people believe that propaganda plays a role in politics, Diri remarked. The opposition is skilled at that. All you ever hear them say is that we did nothing. Nevertheless, what was he involved in as governor?

Relatedly, Governor Diri issued a warning that any traditional leader who permitted election violence in his territory would be overthrown.

He issued the warning over the weekend while leading the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship campaign team to the palace of King Ebitimi Banigo, the Okpo XXI of the Okpoama Kingdom, at Okpoama in the state’s Brass Local Government Area.
