The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for president in 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar has  congratulated Caleb Mutfwang, the governor of Plateau State on the court’s confirmation of his victory.

The Plateau State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which met in Jos, the state capital, on Friday, upheld the election of the state governor, according to a previous report from Gistlover.

The tribunal presided over by Justice R. Irele-Ifineh rendered its decision on Friday and dismissed the petition filed by the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Nentawe Yilwatda, the party’s candidate for governor.

The judge determined that the petitioner’s concerns regarding party structure were pre-election matters, and the petitioners lacked the authority to contest them.

According to the tribunal, the PDP held a legitimate congress on September 25, 2021, in accordance with the judgment of the Jos High Court handed down by Justice S.P. Gang.

The tribunal further determined that the nomination and sponsorship of a candidate are pre-election matters.

The governor’s leadership and commitment to the people, according to Atiku, have remained unwavering, he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday in response to the development.

The former Vice President proclaimed that the court victory would pave the way for a successful and influential presidency.

He wrote: “Congratulations to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, @CalebMutfwang, on the affirmation of your victory at the Plateau State Election Tribunal. Your leadership and commitment to the people remain unyielding. Here’s to an impactful and prosperous tenure ahead.”
