Peter Obi Alleges FG Is Trying to Stop His 2027 Presidential Bid After Court Voids NDC Registration

  • Peter Obi has accused the Federal Government of attempting to prevent him from becoming a candidate in the 2027 presidential election.
  • He made the remarks during an event at Madonna University, shortly after a Federal High Court in Lokoja vacated its earlier judgment directing INEC to register the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has alleged that the Federal Government is making efforts to prevent him from contesting in the 2027 general election.

Obi made the statement while speaking at Madonna University in Anambra State, just hours after a Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja set aside its earlier judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as a political party.

Addressing the audience, Obi maintained that despite the latest legal setback, those opposing his political ambition would not succeed.

“Today, the Federal Government is doing everything possible to stop me from becoming a candidate in this 2027 election. I can tell you for a fact—they won’t win,” he said.

The development follows the Lokoja court’s decision to vacate its previous order compelling INEC to register the NDC, effectively nullifying all actions taken under the earlier ruling.

The court decision has generated widespread debate, with supporters and critics expressing differing opinions on its political implications ahead of the 2027 elections.
