Women in Bayelsa State have sparked reactions online after confronting officers of the Nigeria Police Force over alleged harassment following the discovery of a vibrator in one of their bags during a search operation.

In a viral video making rounds online, the ladies were seen questioning the officers after the sex toy was reportedly tagged an “exhibit” by the policemen.

One of the women was heard saying:

“How can shame catch us because we have a vibrator? Did you want to arrest us because of a vibrator?”

The confrontation reportedly happened during a roadside stop-and-search exercise in Bayelsa State and quickly generated debate across social media platforms.

Many Nigerians criticized the conduct of the officers, arguing that possession of a vibrator is not a criminal offence in Nigeria and should not be treated as evidence of wrongdoing.

Some users also questioned why male officers were allegedly searching women, while others defended the police by claiming the item could have been checked for security reasons.

The incident has also reignited conversations about police professionalism and priorities, especially at a time many Nigerians continue to complain about rising insecurity, kidnappings, and violent crimes across the country.

Although some restrictions have existed regarding the importation of sex toys into Nigeria, there is currently no law criminalizing private ownership or possession of vibrators.

Several social media users reacted to the incident with mixed opinions.

@Realodogwusk: “But why she day carry vibrator around”

@yagazieluchidi: “Vibrators can be used to conceal illicit substances, so if police suspect there is a ground to confiscate the items, then what is the noise about.”

@Joseph536826738: “Eii so now in Nigeria it is illegal to have a vibrator Really Nigeria is too far gone😮😮”

@__Papilo: “The police men go just dey vex say their prick dey waste make vibrator dey enjoy 😂💔”

@EzeifedubaD: “Very soon they’ll start arresting people for having condoms too”

@dedonhq: “Useless society. Vibrator is a crime but killers are moving freely in the bush kidnapping, it is no priority.”

The viral video continues to attract reactions online as Nigerians debate citizens’ rights, morality, and the conduct of law enforcement officers during public searches.
