Winner of the 2020 Big Brother Naija season, Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba, widely known as Laycon, recently shared that he temporarily lost touch with his inner voice following his reality show triumph.
Speaking in a video segment titled Life With Laycon, the rapper opened up about his personal journey and emphasized the significance of self-discovery and inner peace.
Laycon revealed that the sudden fame and attention after his win caused a period in which he could not connect with his own thoughts. Reflecting on the experience, he asked, “Has the world ever gone silent on you and all you have left was your own thoughts?”
He recounted that it wasn’t until December 2021 after his sold-out The Icons Fest concert that he began to hear his inner voice again.
“After winning Big Brother Naija in 2020, I lost my inner voice. I first heard it again in December 2021, following my sold-out concert, The Icons Fest,” Laycon said.
When the voice returned, it challenged him with profound and sometimes uncomfortable questions about his life. “‘Is this really how you want to live? Are you happy? What comes next?’” he explained, adding that these reflections prompted him to spend more time alone, contemplating his choices and direction.
According to Laycon, this period of introspection allowed him to confront difficult truths and ultimately fostered personal growth. He encouraged people not to fear moments of silence or solitude, noting that many avoid them because they reveal uncomfortable truths about one’s life.
He described quiet reflection as a mirror that can highlight what needs to change, and urged his followers to embrace it as a vital step toward accountability, growth, and self-understanding.
