Popular Nigerian singer Joeboy has revealed that breaking into the mainstream music industry has become more difficult than it was in previous years.

He shared his concerns for talented emerging artists who are just starting their careers, noting that the landscape has changed significantly.

In a recent interview with Jay On-Air, Joeboy explained that entering the mainstream today requires more than just producing great music and building a strong brand. Artists now need to be adept at social media and cultivate a public persona, almost like being an influencer.

“I really feel for artists trying to make it big right now because it’s different from before. It now depends on your personality and your visibility. You have to be everywhere and engage with audiences constantly,” he said.

He added, “In the past, having excellent music, strong branding, and solid marketing was often enough to succeed. Today, it takes much more effort and strategy.”

Joeboy advised upcoming artists to leverage social media platforms like TikTok to showcase their music and reach wider audiences.
