Lege Miami has come under intense backlash online after posting a video showing him sharing branded Iftar meals in the Kosofe area of Lagos.
The meal packs, which included jollof rice, were distributed as part of a Ramadan outreach reportedly backed by Seyi Tinubu, son of Bola Tinubu, through the Noella Foundation. The initiative was said to be designed to assist Muslims observing the fast, as well as vulnerable families, during the holy month.
Footage from the event showed a large number of residents gathered at a designated location, forming queues as the food items were handed out to them.
While sharing the video on Instagram, Lege Miami thanked Seyi Tinubu for what he described as a kind and considerate gesture toward the people of Kosofe.
“All Kosofe people appreciate the generosity of Barr @seyitinubu in providing Ramadan Iftar meals and prayers for the people, your thoughtful gesture reflects compassion, leadership and a true understanding of RAMADAN.”
However, the post sparked criticism from many Nigerians on social media. Several commenters argued that although the distribution may provide short-term relief, it does little to solve the broader economic difficulties facing citizens. According to them, such charitable gestures do not address the underlying causes of poverty and financial hardship experienced by many households.
